God still speaks.

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3

How does God speak today?

As you read, the Holy Spirit brings certain words, phrases, or truths alive to your heart.
This is God speaking directly to you.
Never neglect the Word, it is your most reliable guide for hearing God’s voice.
🌿 Through Prayer and Inner Promptings
As you pray, the Holy Spirit may impress thoughts or convictions on your heart.
These may come as a sense of peace, urgency, direction, or correction.
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”— Isaiah 30:21
Be attentive to gentle nudges from the Spirit, they often come in stillness, not in loud displays.
🌿 Through Godly Counsel
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” — Proverbs 15:22
Sometimes God speaks through trusted mentors, pastors, or fellow believers.
He may use their words to confirm something He is already stirring in your spirit.
Seek wise counsel, and listen humbly.
🌿 Through Life Circumstances
God can use circumstances to open or close doors, redirect your steps, or teach you lessons.
Pay attention to what is happening around you, but always test it against Scripture and prayer.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” — Proverbs 16:9
🌿 Through Peace (or Lack of It)
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” — Colossians 3:15
One way God often confirms His leading is through peace.
If you are seeking direction and experience deep, abiding peace, that can be a sign you are on the right path.
Conversely, if you sense unrest or confusion, it may be a prompt to pause and seek more clarity.
How can you grow in hearing His voice?
Like any relationship, learning to recognize God’s voice takes time and intentionality.
Here are some simple practices:
Spend daily time in the Word
Pray with an open, listening heart
Practice stillness and silence regularly
Stay connected to godly community
Test what you hear against Scripture
Trust God to guide you — even if you don’t feel “perfect” at this
Remember, God delights in revealing Himself to His children.

Hearing God’s voice is not reserved for “super spiritual” people.
